Foli covers “Lindnerallee” by Suzy Spacks

The Berlin - San Francisco axis takes an unexpected shortcut with this cover by Foli. A 2-minute, 51 second shortcut to be exact whilst the original version stretches over an elegiac 8 minutes. But the melancholic spirit of the original title is followed; synthetic and fragile, rhythmic and shaky, we can imagine this autumnal, disillusioned ballad unfolding under the poplars of Berlins’ "Lindnerallee". Herein lays the triumph of this cover that abandons the virtuoso confusion of the original version so as to better restore the underlying ambiance.

Foli (San Francisco, USA)

A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ben McClintock finally settled in San Francisco after having criss-crossed the American West and then living a few years in Boston. Guitarist in several bands such as The Social Studies, he also is vocalist with his own band Foli, and is now exploring a more electronica side to his music.
