Maltese Rock covers “Sono Solo” by Scotty Pone
Who could possibly predict such a lively and farcical cover of the Hanover crooner’s ballad? Certainly not us and we bet that Gerhard Steiner (alias Scotty Pone) fully enjoys the facetious breaks and gypsy accents of this very Fellini-esque brass band. The once mellow Italy as seen through the eyes of a German is now portrayed here through Morito Itoman’s rough voice and the lively back up of his band.
Maltese Rock (Okinawa, Japan)
Formed in 1997 in the popular neighbourhood of Sakae Machi in Naha, Okinawa, Maltese Rock is an alternative rock band with an innovative style tinged with gypsy, Tex-Mex and enka influences. The band draws its energy from the Okinawa area and their specific neighbourhood’s popular culture. It is a unique and authentic place that maintains a feel of times gone by despite being in the middle of an increasingly standardized modern city.
